Show Programme
ARTISTIC/
MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Julie Pietrangelo
Well known in the area for her many award-winning musical and choral endeavours, Julie has a background in choral work and theatre, and created Voices because of her passion for both.  She provides expert vocal guidance while crafting crowd-pleasing performances for Voices’ audiences.
CHOREOGRAPHER
Danielle Bennett
Danielle has been involved in the dance world since she was four years old. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, and a Bachelor of Education from York University, Danielle has participated in a variety of both performance and choreographic opportunities. She had the unique experience of teaching  in England before putting her BEd to good use in Canada with the TVDSB. Dance is her passion and she is excited to be a part of the creative team.
COLLABORATIVE PIANIST/
BAND DIRECTOR
Steven Morley
Steven started accompanying choirs at the early age of 13 and has been an active accompanist throughout the province ever since. He is currently the pianist at Byron United Church as well as an active musical theatre musician and music director. He has co-music directed for London Community Player's (LCP) production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance (2024), and takes the baton as MD this February for LCP's production of Urinetown: The Musical. Steven is a graduate of the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University.
GUITAR
John Kenny
John Kenny is a full-time musician. Proficient in country, rock, pop and jazz, he has toured theatres and nightclubs across Canada (all 10 provinces) and the U.S. with various artists.  He is probably the only musician in the business who has shared the stage with both the Duke Ellington Band and TVO's Polkaroo.
PERCUSSION
Greg Mainprize
Greg is a retired high school music teacher, and freelance percussionist.  In demand as a jazz drummer, he regularly performs with several London ensembles and theatre groups.
BASS/TUBA
Jim Smythe
Jim is a retired music educator for the Thames Valley Board and Western’s Faculty of Education.  He performs with several London music ensembles, notably “Encore - The Concert Band” & “The London Jazz Ensemble”, and in many theatre productions, on both tuba and electric bass. Trivia tidbit - Jim and our artistic director are graduates in the same years from Western’s music and education faculties.
MASTER OF CEREMONIES
Jim Swan
The Voices of Broadway Show Choir is thrilled to welcome back Jim Swan as our Master of Ceremonies.  Jim is retired after a career in broadcasting that spanned 60 years.  His face and voice became familiar to people throughout Southwestern Ontario as a result of years in front of cameras and microphones in Woodstock, Wingham and London and  his presence as MC at countless events. Jim is past-president and current member of the Board of Directors of the Agape Foundation of London, past-president of the Garrison Community Council London and Region, and belongs to the Rotary Club of London. Jim still enjoys providing MC services. He and his wife Joanne are happy to be busy from time to time with grandchildren.
A Message from the Musical Director
Welcome to Voices’ presentation of “SHOWSTOPPERS”, a collection of well-known signature songs from some of Broadway’s biggest hits. I’m sure that you will be tempted to sing along with the choir and be delighted to discover that you too know every word.

It is my honour and privilege to be working with a fantastic Creative Team. Danielle, our choreographer, works tirelessly to draw out the best from everyone, and is always instrumental in bringing my vision of the show to life on the stage. Steve, at the keyboard every week, is truly a  collaborative partner, working with me to also bring out the best from our singers.

Kudos to all choir members – a group I’ve affectionately named my “small but mighty” group. This show is vocally demanding, and was designed with a larger group in mind, but everyone has truly risen to the occasion. Their dedication, commitment to excellence, and tenacious hard work has been a joy to watch...and listen to!!

Finally, a huge thank you to our many volunteers, without whom our shows would not be possible.

Enjoy the show!
