Exciting New Works Unveiled at NAMT Festival

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) has officially announced the lineup for its 37th Annual Festival of New Musicals, set to take place on October 23-24, 2025, at New World Stages in New York City. This festival is known for showcasing daring new talent and providing audiences with a sneak peek at innovative theatrical storytelling.

Meet the Lineup

This year's festival will present eight new musicals, each performed in concert stagings lasting 45 minutes. These include:

Alice Bliss – Book by Karen Hartman, Music by Jenny Giering, Lyrics by Adam Gwon (based on the novel by Laura Harrington).
FINN – Created by Chris Nee, Michael Kooman & Chris Dimond, featuring book and lyrics by Dimond and Nee, and music by Kooman.
The King of Harlem – By John-Michael Lyles & David Gomez.
Love Is Dead – By Brett Ryback & Jeff Luppino-Esposito.
PARTICLE – By Selda Sahin, Autumn Reeser & Derek Gregor.
ROJA – By Jaime Lozano & Tommy Newman.
Soft Magical Tofu Boy(s) – By Kevin Wong.
Wakeman – By Jenn Grinels.

NAMT's Executive Director, Betsy King Militello, expressed excitement for this year’s lineup: "This year's cohort offers a thrilling glimpse into the future of musical theatre. With provocative ambition, inventive craft, and profound heart, these new musicals reflect where our field is heading."

Legacy of Success

The Festival of New Musicals has a rich history, having introduced over 300 musicals and 575 writers since it began. Notable productions like Come From Away and The Drowsy Chaperone came from this nurturing platform, with more than 85% of showcased musicals advancing to further development, productions, or licensing.
